Pay tribute to our planet in style

We are huge animal lovers at Luxe HQ so when I was approached by Alice Acreman to stock her Vegan friendly cushions at Luxeology I jumped at the chance.

Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose.  There are many ways to embrace vegan living. One thing all vegans have in common is a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat (including fish, shellfish and insects), dairy, eggs and honey - as well as products like leather and any tested on animals.

Alice started Alice Acreman Silks initially as a hobby, sharing her passion for botanical artwork and creating beautiful, unusual pieces.

Using her well-practiced watercolour, sketching, collage and digital software skills, Alice creates all the intricate motifs by hand.  Vivid colour palettes and unexpected combinations of weird and wonderful creatures and bold tropical florals create a brand unlike any other.  Intertwining under-sea creatures and featured with wild flowers and intriguing insects.

Alice was driven by the concept of designing a product that could be enjoyed by Vegan’s. She says, “The idea came about when I realised some of my customers live vegan lifestyles so I wanted to create a product they could enjoy, knowing it has been ethically produced. It also felt right to avoid using products from animals as the artwork focuses on animal motifs.”

All Alice’s products are both designed and produced in the UK and she uses recycled packaging to send out orders.  She tries to be as gentle as possible in respect to our beautiful planet, not wasting materials and hand sewing garments.  In support of other UK craftspeople components are used from within the country as much as possible.

The cushions themselves are made from a luxury brushed synthetic which mimics animal skin suede without using any animal products.  There are five stunning designs to choose from, all individual pieces of art in their own right.  Sure to add more than a touch of class to a sofa, bed or indeed anywhere that needs a little luxury.
